Kalpowar Homestead Turnoff
Follow this map to access the Pandanus turnoff from the
gravel road that leads from the Kalpowar Crossing north to Bathurst
Heads and Cape Melville.
Kalpowar Homestead, your turning point, is approximately 2.8 kilometres beyond the
Kalpowar Crossing over the Normanby River.

at Homestead - veer right through the gate which is located behind the
vehicle in this image.
Pass through the gate next to the large shed, then
drive straight ahead, cross the steel cattle grid then from
there
follow the track as it veers right to parallel the dirt airstrip. Beyond the
airstrip threshold the track swings
left then right. DO
NOT DRIVE ON THE AIRSTRIP.
The turn at Kalpowar Homestead is usually
marked by a 44 gallon drum with three red stripes painted on it.
There
is a sign next to the cattle grid denoting restricted access to Pandanus Park.
Sighting the sign at the cattle grid is confirmation you are on the right
track.
Kalpowar Homestead is PRIVATE PROPERTY. Do not enter the
buildings or sheds or touch any property therein.
DRIVE SLOWLY to reduce
dust hazard for the homestead occupants.
If the gate is locked please visit the homestead and
politely ask for the key.
